Battle of the Keepers is a high octane, fast paced, thrilling game matching keeper vs keeper. Each keeper attempts to re as many goals on the other by firing punts, kicks or throws into the opposing keeper's goal before the clock runs out and the referee's whistle blows. The keeper with the most goals at the end of the match advances on to the next round. Keepers, now you have the opportunity to show off your skills in a highly exciting, competitive environment!

Introducing Bo Oshoniyi

 

MLS Experience

2005: After serving as the Wizards backup goalkeeper for five seasons, Oshoniyi earned the #1 spot in 2005 and played every minute between the pipes. He posted an 11-9-12 record with a 1.38 GAA and seven shutouts ... Earned his first win of the year in the season opener vs. COL (4/2) ... posted back-to-back clean sheets vs. MET (5/25) and vs. SJ (5/28) ... Stretched unbeaten strreak to four games with 1-1 ties @ CHV (6/1) and @ NE (6/4) ... Led Wizards to three straight road wins in August witha 2-1 win @ NE (8/6),
a 3-2 desicion @ CHI (8/10) and a 4-2 victory @ RSL (8/13).

2004: Appeared in nine games in 2004, the final nine games of the season, taking over for the injured Tony Meola Posted five shutouts in nine games, helping lead the Wizards
to a League-high 12 shutouts on the year and the fewest goals allowed in MLS (30) ... Made his first start of the season, starting on short notice for an injured Tony Meola. Made three saves to lead the Wizards to a 2-1 win @ NE (8/21) and into first place in the Western Conference ... Posted a shutout in the Wizards 1-0 win vs. SJ (8/24) in the semifinal of the U.S. Open Cup, helping the team reach the Open Cup final for the first time in team history ... Tied a franchise record with nine saves in a single game, @ COL (9/10) ... Picked up his second shutout of the year in a 1-0 win vs. SJ (9/18) ... Earned
his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 win vs. COL (9/25) ... Extended his unbeaten streak to three games with a 1-1 tie at LA (10/2), but has his career best-tying
two-game shutout streak snapped with Tyrone Marshall's goal in the 65th minute ... Extended his unbeaten streak to four games and picked up his career high fourth
shutout of the season with a 0-0 tie at SJ (10/9) ... Earned his career high fifth shutout
of the year in a 1-0 win vs. LA (10/16), locking up the Western Conference regular
season title and home field advantage throughout the playoffs for the Wizards and extended his personal best unbeaten streak to five games. 2004 Playoffs: Started all four postseason matches for the Wizards, including the MLS Cup Final vs. D.C. (11/14).
Posted back-to-back shutouts vs. SJ in Game Two (10/30) and vs. LA (11/5) to help lead the Wizards to their second ever appearance in the MLS Cup.

2003: Made just one appearance in 2003 coming on to play the final 8 minutes vs. CHI (4/26) after Josh Wolff came off with an injury and the Wizards had used all three substitutions. Oshoniyi went in goal replacing Tony Meola who moved into the forward position ... Started and played the full 90 minutes @ COL (8/5) in the Wizards 3-2 loss
to the Rapids in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.

2002: Appeared in 13 games, making 11 starts, for the Wizards and posted a 3-5-4 record ... Made his first appearance of 2002 vs. LA (5/4) in place of Tony Meola who was training with the U.S. National Team ... Picked up his first win of the season in a 2-1 decision vs. LA (5/18) ... Tied a team record with nine saves to preserve the Wizards 1-1 tie @ MET (5/25) ... Extended his unbeaten streak to three games with a 2-2 tie vs. DAL (6/1) ... Picked up his first shutout of the season, a 2-0 win vs. DC (6/15) ... Came on to play the final 71 minutes @ LA (7/20) after Tony Meola was issued a red card.
Immediately stepped in and stopped a Carlos Ruiz PK. Allowed two goals in the
Wizards 2-2 tie.

2001: Made 11 appearances, including 10 starts, and 4-5-1 record with 3 shutouts ... Saw his first action of the season coming on in the 62nd minute @ MIA (6/9) for an injured Tony Meola ... Recorded four saves and earned the shutout in Kansas City's 4-0 win over the Seattle Sounders (A-League) in the 2nd round of the U.S. Open Cup (6/27) ... Recording his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win vs. TB (6/30) ... Earned his second consecutive win and third of the season in a come from behind victory vs. DAL (7/14) ... Recorded consecutive shutouts @ COL (7/18) and vs. NE (7/29) to extend his unbeaten streak to four games, earning him the Wizards July Player of the Month honor.

2000: Drafted in the fourth round of the 2000 SuperDraft by the New England
Revolution and was claimed off waivers by the Wizards ... Started and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Wizards in a 2-0 shutout victory over Columbus in the Dayton
Cup exhibition match on 5/10 ... Made his first MLS start of the season, and first since 1996 @ SJ (8/16) replacing Tony Meola who was called to the U.S. National Team. Registered a shutout in his return, extending the Wizards MLS record for whitewashes
in a season to 14 with a 3-0 shutout. The shutout was the second of his MLS career.

1998: Called up from Charleston Battery by the Tampa Bay Mutiny but did not appear
in a game.

1996: Started 13 games for the Columbus Crew and had a record of 3-10 ... Led MLS
in saves for the first 13 games of the season and was named MLS Player of the Week
for week four ... Overall had 64 saves, 62 catch/punches, two shutouts and a 2.54
goals-against-average.

Other Pro Experience

Played for the Atlanta Silverbacks of the A-League in 1999 and appeared in 28 games, going 15-13 with a 1.29 GAA, five shutouts and 106 saves. Spent the 1998 season
with the Charleston Battery (A-League). Had a 12-15 record in 27 appearances with
seven shutouts, a 1.28 GAA and 84 saves. Led the A-League with 140 saves in 21
starts while with the Connecticut Wolves in 1997. Spent the 1995 season with the New York Centaurs of the A-League, posting a 2-11 record in 13 contests with three
shutouts and a 1.77 GAA. Also trained with Ajax Amsterdam.

International

Played with U.S. National "B" Team from 1992-1993 appearing in 12 contests, starting seven of those. Competed in the World University Games in Buffalo, appearing in three contests.

College

Was only the second Southern Connecticut player to have his number retired (#1). Wizards Assistant Coach Brian Bliss was the first. Led the Owls to a 67-8-7 (.860)
record while he was the 'keeper. Was also the first non Division I player to earn the
adidas Golden Boot Award as the nation's top collegiate goalkeeper ... Led Southern Connecticut to two Division II Championships (1990, 1992), while compiling a 0.47
GAA in 84 games ... Shares national collegiate record with Jay Vanatto of Elizabethtown with 50 career shutouts.
